In preparation for this year’s Valentine’s Day, hit TV series First Dates, made by Twenty Twenty Productions, teams up with Decca Records to release its first ever collection of the most romantic songs in the world, ‘First Dates: The Album’, to be released on 3rd February.
The documentary series, First Dates has taken the nation by storm by following a range of individuals on a quest to find love by meeting their matches for the first time over dinner. ‘First Dates: The Album’ comprises a collection of 65 of the greatest love songs of all time (compiled across 3 CDs) that have soundtracked some of the most iconic thrills and spills of modern dating to grace our screens.
As the programme’s undeniably charismatic Maître D', Fred Sirieix explains:
“What better accompaniment to Valentine’s day? This collection showcases a full spectrum of love’s greatest luminaries from our lifetimes. It is the perfect recipe guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings; after all, music is ever the food of love and there is only one happiness in this life - to love, and to be loved.”
Both beautifully poignant ballads and uplifting, dance-along hits across the decades are featured, from the classic voice of Dean Martin to the chart-topping Ronan Keating and Gregory Porter; from the legendary female vocals of Doris Day, to the sensational Imelda May and Norah Jones, the album includes over 3½ hours of music to take us through the ages, presenting heart-stirring love songs that have withstood the test of time.
The album also features 3 exclusive tracks from the show itself written by celebrated composer Miguel d’Oliveira.
Whether a fan of the show or not, ‘First Dates: The Album’ is THE definitive soundtrack for Valentine's Day, and beyond.
