Shed Media Group has appointed Martin Trickey as its Group Head of Digital. Beginning in February, he will be responsible for working with the Group’s companies, which include Ricochet, Wall to Wall, Twenty Twenty and Renegade Pictures, to oversee the Group’s digital strategy and develop and deliver multiplatform elements that support and enhance the Group’s brands and content both editorially and commercially. Trickey’s remit will include games, mobile apps, branded content and ad funded opportunities.
Trickey joins Shed from Twofour Digital, where he was Creative Director, responsible for the company’s digital and social media strategy. During his time at the company, he managed a host of high profile multiplatform projects for leading broadcasters, including The Angel for Sky1, Splash! for ITV and Bedtime Live for Channel 4. Working alongside the business’ corporate clients, Trickey also developed a portfolio of brand-funded audience facing content on platforms including YouTube and Yahoo.
Prior to Twofour Digital, Trickey was the BBC’s Head of Cross Platform Productions. Part of the BBC’s Vision Production Board, he had overall editorial control of the business’ interactive output and managed the restructure of the BBC’s Vision and Repeats departments, integrating digital production into television production.
Trickey’s previous roles have also included Comedy and Entertainment Commissioning Executive for BBC and Director of Digital Services for Teachers TV.
Martin said: “I’m looking forward to getting stuck in at Shed and building up the digital strategy the group has developed. With such a huge range of genres and programming on offer, as well as the slate of returning brands, I’m excited to get started on making the most of the digital opportunities available to us.”
Claire Hungate, COO at Shed Media comments: "Martin is a first class digital executive, that rare combination of innovative and progressive creative thinker and commercial pragmatist. We are thrilled that he will be here to lead the next, exciting phase in Shed's digital development. He will compliment Shed Media's A list team of creatives and enviable slate of programming perfectly."
